Learn more about our yoga classes

Our approach to yoga is therapeutic and functional, allowing people of all ages and abilities to access the benefits. Therapeutic yoga is a holistic approach to working on the mind, body and spirit all at once.

Yoga is a combination of physical postures called poses, breathing techniques, and visualization/meditation. These practices strengthen, soothe and calm different systems in the body such as the cardiovascular system, nervous system, immune system and muscles.

Functional yoga incorporates modifications of traditional poses and the use of props to enable students to safely participate in the practice. These small-group classes may resemble an appointment with a physical therapist more than a typical yoga class, and that's on purpose.

The focus is to increase body awareness, link gentle movement to deeper breathing and emphasize relaxation through stillness and silence. Oftentimes, patients benefit from an incremental approach, starting with meditation and breath work and moving slowly into a more physical practice.
